The Hapad story traces back to the 1930s in Chicago where Dr. Emil D.W. Hauser developed a skill for hand skiving wool felt shoe padding that quickly gained a reputation for relieving pressure, supporting foot health and providing exceptional comfort without over restricting natural foot function.
Recognizing the product's potential, Dr. Emil’s brother, Theodor, designed and patented machinery for mass-producing professional-quality skived wool felt pads — and physicians nationwide embraced the idea.
As the business grew, Theodor’s son, John Hauser, carried the Hapad legacy forward. A true salesman at heart, John believed success began with listening to customers. His commitment to service, innovation, and genuine care helped expand Hapad into the trusted, nationally recognized brand it is today.
