Are the pads placed in the shoe or on the foot?
Hapad products are designed to be placed in the shoe, NOT directly on the foot. By being placed in the shoe, the product will provide more comfort and last longer.
How often should I replace my Hapad product?
Hapad products should be replaced every 6 to 12 months depending on the size, weight, occupation, and lifestyle of the user. Of course, when your feet begin to feel tired or achy again, it is time to replace the pad because some support may have been lost.
What materials are Hapad products made from?
Most Hapad products are made from 100% natural merino wool felt. It is supportive, breathable, and durable, offering superior comfort compared to synthetics. Every felt product is precision skived for comfort and comes with an adhesive backing for secure placement.
In addition to wool, Hapad’s innovative Comf-Orthotic® line of insoles is made from an orthopedic-grade foam, which is lightweight and breathable. The insoles are designed to mold to the contours of the foot using body heat and weight, creating a personalized fit in hours.
Are Hapad products washable?
No. We do not recommend washing Hapad products. We suggest replacing old, soiled pads/insoles with new ones.
Can Hapad products be moved from shoe to shoe?
No. Hapad products are not intended to be transferred from one shoe to another. Once properly positioned, the product is designed to remain a permanent part of that shoe. Keeping it in place helps maintain proper alignment and ensures optimal durability and performance over time.
How do I remove Hapad pads from my shoes?
Hapad products are designed to become a secure, lasting part of your shoe. The adhesive is intentionally strong to prevent slipping once properly positioned.
To remove a pad, start at one end and use your thumb to gently roll it loose. Do not pull or lift the pad straight up, as this may damage the shoe. After removal, roll away any remaining adhesive residue before applying a new pad.
How do I know which Hapad product is right for my foot condition?
- Heel Pads: Provide targeted cushioning and shock absorption beneath the heel, helping to reduce impact in that specific area.
- Arch Pads: Designed to support the medial longitudinal arch and can help improve overall foot alignment and weight distribution.
- Full-Length and ¾ Length Insoles: Extend support across a larger portion of the plantar surface, offering more comprehensive cushioning, alignment control, and pressure redistribution.
Proper product selection depends on the location of your symptoms, the level of support required, and the available space within your footwear.
What is the difference between heel pads, arch pads, and full insoles?
- Heel pads provide targeted cushioning and shock absorption beneath the heel, helping to reduce impact in that specific area.
- Arch pads are designed to support the medial longitudinal arch and can help improve overall foot alignment and weight distribution.
- Full-length and ¾ length insoles extend support across a larger portion of the plantar surface, offering more comprehensive cushioning, alignment control, and pressure redistribution.
Proper product selection depends on the location of your symptoms, the level of support required, and the available space within your footwear.
How do I know what size to purchase?
There are suggested size charts within the product pages, product videos, and catalog, but not every foot will correspond.
Remember that “less is more.” Most feet are extremely sensitive, so the product will feel foreign at first. Start with a smaller-sized pad to gently support and strengthen the foot.
Down the road, you may want to gradually increase the pad size, but this is not normally necessary. Keep in mind that the pad should never “feel like a lump” within the shoe. That is a clear sign that the pad is too large, and a smaller size should be used.
Should Hapad products be cut or trimmed after purchase?
No. Hapad products should not be cut or trimmed. Each product is uniquely shaped to contour to the foot and provide support in specific areas. Altering the shape may reduce comfort and limit the product’s ability to function as intended.
If the product feels too large, we recommend selecting a smaller size rather than modifying the original.
Will I need to buy a larger shoe to accommodate Hapad products?
No. Hapad products are designed to fit comfortably inside your regular footwear. We offer a broad assortment of styles and sizes to ensure proper fit across different shoe types.
Can multiple Hapad products be used together?
Yes, multiple Hapad products may be used together when additional support is required and sufficient space is available within the shoe.
The Comf-Orthotic® insoles incorporate metatarsal, arch, and heel support, all in one. Many customers add other products such as metatarsal pads, scaphoid pads, posting heel wedges, and neuroma pads to the Comf-Orthotic® insole when necessary.
If you are unsure which combination is appropriate, consult a qualified healthcare professional for guidance.
How soon will I notice a difference after I begin using my Hapad product?
Some individuals notice improved comfort or stability immediately, while others experience a more gradual adjustment period. During the first few weeks, the change in support may feel unfamiliar as the body adapts to corrected alignment. When abnormal alignment has been present for an extended time, muscles and joints become accustomed to compensatory movement patterns.
As alignment improves, previously underutilized muscles may need time to regain strength and coordination. With consistent use, the body typically adapts to the corrected alignment over several weeks, allowing for a more stable and efficient walking pattern.
Can I use Hapad products during exercise or physical activity?
Yes. Many Hapad products are commonly used in athletic shoes. Supporting proper alignment during activity can be especially helpful as instability often becomes more noticeable with increased movement or fatigue.
Can foot issues affect my knees, hips, or lower back?
Yes. Because the feet form the foundation of movement, improper mechanics while standing, walking, or running can influence alignment at the ankle, knee, hip, and lower back over time.
